Look Again, but Right This Time!

It’s strange how our emotional state can affect the way we perceive things. A joke might seem really funny on payday but monumentally cheeky at midmonth! A tough situation could begin to unravel after a good night’s sleep or a walk in the park.

Whenever you find yourself stressed or uptight be aware that things could look different when you’ve calmed down. Get into the habit of stepping back from your situation and taking another look. I know you looked the first time, but this time look proactively. Could some action of yours have brought on your troubles? What could you learn from your experience? Could a mastermind group help you do better? Put yourself in others’ shoes and think, “What would I have done there?”

Constructive self-questioning could help us learn from life and avoid repeating mistakes. Take a break today and ask yourself some really good questions. Look again at the day, but look right this time!
